Nearly all of Marshmello’s music videos are directed by the same person, Daniel Burke. He has very similar character traits in all his videos where her uses a wide angle lens and uses a orangey warm filter. He uses mostly simple shots in his videos and often very little special effects which is going to be quite good for me because I could make a video inspired by him. In all these videos he follows a similar story line. Which is Marshmello is at college and he is on his own and then he finds a group and a girl who in the first video “Blocks” he stands up for her and gets rid of some bullies. Then in the next video “Take it back” Marshmello the video goes through a time lapse of him and the girl hanging out and then the girl goes to meet Marshmello’s family. So at this point they are probably dating. In the video there is no talking and also Marshmello has a helmet on so therefore he has to do all his actions with his hands and physical movement. So there are a lot of over exaggerated movements.
These are my 3rd and 2nd favourite videos but my 1st favourite video just happens to be the music video for “Silence” (apart from the blatant product placement). It has very interesting angles, like using Dutch tilts and spinning the camera around. The video has dark lighting but it is lit up with some bi-sexual lighting. Some of which is from the bikes that they ride that have lights on them. The video also has a couple of sub plots other than just the Khalid and his gang singing. This includes a boy who is transporting a bag and gets roughed up by the police, a boy who parents are arguing and a woman who has been evicted. The video has fast paced editing the video was directed by Courtney Phillips. She has directed a few other moderately successful videos for other artists.
